Idaho Aviation: The Original Flying Cowboys
Few places have shaped general aviation quite like Idaho's backcountry. Long before GPS and modern STOL aircraft, resourceful pilots connected isolated communities by flying supplies, mail, passengers, and even livestock into rugged mountain airstrips that remain legendary today.
Join Crista Worthy, pilot, aviation historian, author, and Editor of The Flyline for the Idaho Aviation Association, for an engaging evening exploring the people, aircraft, and events that built one of America's richest aviation traditions. Drawing from decades of research and her acclaimed book Idaho Aviation, Crista will present a fast-paced collection of historic photographs and stories that bring to life the courageous bush pilots, smokejumpers, ranchers, and aviation pioneers who helped define backcountry flying in the American West.
Crista has authored hundreds of aviation articles for publications including AOPA Pilot, Flying, and Pilot Getaways, and has become one of the leading voices documenting the history and culture of recreational aviation in the Pacific Northwest. Whether you're interested in aviation history, mountain flying, or simply enjoy great storytelling, this promises to be an entertaining and informative evening.
